HSABC and BCPRC: Anti Oppression Workshop Series

Homelessness Services Association of BC and BC Poverty Reduction Coalition are proud to present, with generous funding from the City of Vancouver, a 5 workshop series on Anti-Oppression. Through these workshops we will explore the concepts of anti-oppression and the intersections that weave throughout the landscape. Through education, discussion, and exploration we aim to create a more inclusive, and less oppressive world.

Workshop 3: Curriculum for Change - Alison Clancey - Living In Community

Curriculum for Change is an interactive workshop for individuals who provide front-line services to sex workers or whose work or life circumstances bring them into contact with sex workers.

*This workshop is open to all interested in attending to increase their awareness, however the final 45 minutes focuses on those who work on the frontlines*

Attendees will:
• Enhance their awareness of the diversity & complexity of sex work
• Reflect on societal, organizational and their own sex work-related ideas and consider how stigma, stereotypes, and biases can influence how we see sex workers
• Acquire tangible skills to make community services and supports more accessible to sex workers

Living in Community (LIC) is a Vancouver-based, provincial non-profit organization that is working to change the conversations we have about sex work. LIC focuses on getting at root causes of issues like stigma, poverty, and gender-based violence that create systemic vulnerability for sex workers, and we seek to build understanding and common ground with other community members.
