This webinar is designed to help frontline staff navigate access to services for refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers. This webinar aims to provide local and global context for the increased number of newcomers in shelters, discuss how to create an inclusive and multicultural environment, and help those in need access settlement services.
Instructor Bio: Katya Avalos
Katya has extensive frontline experience working with refugee clamaints and newcomers throughout her career, from Quest to the Immigrant Services Society of BC, SOS and the Umbrella Mobile Unit.
She has been the coordinator of MAP (MultiAgency Partnership of BC) for three years, working closely with many different organizations working to end homelessness, and has been responding lately to an increased identified need for more understanding, services and refined approaches to supporting refugees and newcomers who are accessing shelter and social support services.
