September 18, 2024, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
In this session, Paul draws on his years of experience and imparts tips, tricks and tools that are helpful in getting past the 2-year hump in advocacy roles. He discusses how to avoid burnout, how to keep at it, and the philosophy of advocacy. Paul also touches on how to work with difficult clients that really need help, how to say no to a client, getting to the heart of the issue and how to do well within an agency.
Paul is the coordinator and poverty law advocate at the Prince Rupert Unemployment Action Centre. Paul's experience centers on rural and remote communities as he's always worked in smaller communities which are faced with different challenges than more urban areas. Paul also has extensive experience with the Manufactured Home Parks Tenancy Act, as he advised on and contributed to the writing of the act.
