Jëje Zho (Men's House/Shelter) Manager -Term

Location: Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Offices – Dawson Y.T.

Standard Hours Bi-Weekly: 75
Start Date: Immediately
End Date: 1 Year from hire date - with possible extension
Salary: Level 9 Step 1 ($98,099.07, annually)

Reporting to the Director of Wellness, the Jëje Zho (Men's Shelter) Manager is responsible for managing the development and delivery of the Jëje Zho (Transitional House and Shelter) operations; supervising and evaluating the activities of the departmental staff; developing staff models, implementing employee work schedules that align with legislation, policy and process development and oversight of daily operations of Jëje Zho. This position will also liaise, coordinate and support programming and network with other government and non-governmental agencies, acting as a Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in (TH) representative in various capacities such as consultations, advisory committees, working groups or negotiations regarding homelessness programming and outreach. Finally this position will be responsible for coordinating various health and wellness services and programs happening within Dawson City through membership with the Interagency team.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Essential Qualifications:

-Grade 12 (or equivalent) with degree / diploma in social work, psychology, humanities or related health services field. A relevant combination of education, experience, skills and abilities may be considered.
-Two years’ experience providing clinical supervision, delivering programs and services, and providing direction to program staff in a transitional housing setting, or similar environment.
-Considerable knowledge of low barrier and harm reduction principles, techniques, and theories through working directly with adults, seniors and youth.
-Experience in trauma informed care and best practices working with vulnerable /high risk individuals experiencing homelessness, complex mental health and addictions, and/or with complex care needs.
-Experience with financial management, including budgets, resource management, proposal and grant writing.
-Demonstrated experience managing, supervising, coaching and performance managing staff members.
-Experience in developing, implementing, evaluating and reporting on programs and services.
-Demonstrated ability to perform risk assessments in a complex, high risk, work environment.

Assets:

-Ability to regularly meet deadlines and effectively manage heavy workload within established priorities.
-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with citizens, staff, and other governments and agencies.
-Knowledge of restorative justice approach to using restorative practices to manage conflict.
-Knowledge of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in government structure, culture, traditions, history, demographics, family structures and socio-economic dynamics, challenges, and aspirations.

An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.
