Janitorial Contractor, Part Time - New Westminster

Lookout Housing and Health Society is a charitable organization and social safety net that provides housing and a range of support services to adults with low or no income, who have few, if any, housing or support options. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented janitor to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will maintain a clean, sanitary, and orderly environment in our office. The contractor will work 20 hours per week Monday to Friday. This position reports to the Manager of Administration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensures the cleanliness of the building by performing a variety of cleaning duties, including attention to toilets and bathing rooms, walls, floors, sinks, kitchen areas, trash containers, and windows, through sweeping, vacuuming, washing, mopping, disinfecting, and waxing.
• Handles various garbage duties, including removing garbage from premises, keeping garbage container areas clear, and ensuring garbage and recycling are available for disposal service pick-up; advises management of any issues.
• Monitors the condition and cleanliness of the Administration Building, reporting any safety concerns to the Manager.
• Maintains the exterior of the facilities and grounds by washing sidewalks, walls, and windows, collecting litter, and picking up leaves.
• Manages maintenance and cleaning supplies, including placing purchase orders with internal purchasers and ensuring WHMIS documentation is clear on all cleaners.
• Collaborates as a team member with other staff to ensure a safe and caring environment by responding to emergency issues and supporting others through sharing knowledge and information.
• Complies with and contributes to all aspects of the health and safety program.
• Maintains accurate records of cleaning activities and supply usage, providing reports to management as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a janitor or in a similar role
• Ability to handle cleaning equipment and machinery
• Good physical condition and strength
• Attention to detail and conscientiousness
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
• An Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate is required along with a Criminal Record Clearance for the Vulnerable Sector
• Must have two doses of COVID 19 Vaccine
