A Housing Manager is the force to drive this passion, and we are currently seeking someone exceptional to take the helm. We’re searching for an experienced Housing Manager to join our senior management team for the high quality, gender based and trauma informed management of our affordable housing portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a sharp operational mind and a proven ability to strategize and implement high-level program initiatives. As a leader, you will have a strong talent for project coordination, program development, delegation, and implementing and advising on policies. Ultimately, you are motivated by the desire to optimize resources, nurture program success and see the people and the communities you serve thrive.

Objectives of this Role:
• The Housing Manager works closely with the Executive Director and cross-functional teams to successfully manage the Society’s affordable housing portfolio that consists of approximately 100 units at 3 locations.
• Fosters safe and healthy housing environment for the persons served.
• Proactively strategizes, implements, and maintains housing program policies and procedures, adapting to the changing and evolving needs.
• Maintains organizational standards for client satisfaction, service quality, and performance.
• Manages budget and day-to-day finances in collaboration with the Finance Manager to maximize productivity.

Responsibilities:
• Supervises housing team staff, including assigning work, scheduling, coaching and performance management.
• Leads a proactive and preventative maintenance program for all buildings, including keeping up to date capital plans and energy audits, and seeking out funding opportunities in coordination with BCNPHA and BC Housing.
• Maintains full occupancy of all properties by reviewing tenant applications, calculating rents, preparing tenancy agreements, while ensuring compliance with BC Housing regulations.
• Manages tenant move in and move out processes.
• Manages the collection of rent, security deposits, and addresses late payments in accordance with the BC Residential Tenancy Act.
• Coordinates after-hours emergency phone rotation and responsibilities to ensure emergency coverage of buildings at all times.
• Holds the after-hours emergency phone and responds to emergencies on a rotational basis.
• Identifies tenants for referral to Women’s Support Program. Works with Women’s Support Program staff to support success in accordance with the client’s individualized plans.
• Gathers input from stakeholders, including clients served, and creates actions plans for program performance improvement.
• Represents the Society and liaises with community housing providers at relevant meetings.
• Maintains sensitivity towards cultural, religious, economic, and social statuses, beliefs, values, and opinions.
• Protects client privacy and confidentiality with utmost care.

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to women’s studies, social work, psychology, sociology.
• 3-5 years’ experience in senior management. (Preference given to those with program management experience)
• Property management experience is an asset.
• Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, and organizational skills.
• Excellent knowledge of the BC Residential Tenancy Act.
• Working knowledge of change management principles and performance evaluation processes.
• Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Additional Information

• A criminal record check and search under the Criminal Record Review Act is required.
• A valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle is required.

Salary: $55,000 - $60,000
