Job Description / Duties

The Opportunity
Do you have strong interpersonal skills and function well independently, while managing multiple concurrent tasks? Are you adaptable, collaborative, and service oriented? Then we may have an opportunity for you. Shelter Workers are responsible for the intake of and care for men entering the UGM Shelter by ensuring they have a safe and clean place to find direction, assistance, and sleep. The job may include making referrals for housing, clothing, other shelter, recovery, and a wide variety of other duties as needed by the individuals we serve.
The successful candidate will have at least 1-2 years of related work or volunteer experience, able to set boundaries with demanding individuals, and deal with people in crisis in an appropriate manner. Basic English skills and basic computer skills are necessary to be successful in this role. You will frequently deal with clients in crisis situations, brought about by diverse problems. There will be other staff nearby to assist as required.
There is a Permanent Part-Time position (30 hours/week 1, 40 hours/week 2). The starting wage for this position is $22.32 per hour. Hours worked between 10pm – 6am include a $2/hour shift premium. For a copy of the full job description, visit our website.
