Client Services Clerk – Canada Summer Jobs The Village, Duncan BC

Lookout Housing and Health Society is a charitable organization and social safety net that provides housing and a range of support services to adults, with low or no income, who have few, if any, housing or support options. As the people we serve have challenges meeting basic needs and goals, we place minimal barriers between them and our services. Hours, Days of Work and Salary: Will work Monday to Friday (negotiable). Shift start times will be from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Shifts are 7.5 hours in length including 30 min unpaid lunch break. That is a total of paid 35 hours per week. Days of rest shall be consecutive. Schedule may change with two weeks’ notice. The position is temporary and for 8 weeks.

The salary for this position is $18.75 per hour. *Positions are funded in part through the Government of Canada - Summer Jobs.

Job Duties:

• Provide assistance, support and basic skill training to clients while encouraging independence, self-responsibility and healthiest lifestyle
• Assist support workers with the intake of clients, provide services of support, assessment, liaising, isolate problems, develop service plans, crisis intervention, and generally ensure that basic needs are met
• Assist with paper work and statistical data
• Other duties as required

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications:

• Enrollment in a Social Work, Mental Health or Criminal Justice program is preferred
• Must have current Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate
• Must have two doses of COVID 19 Vaccine
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Skills Training is an asset
• Must pass a satisfactory Criminal Record Check

Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrated communication skills both verbal and written
• Ability to manage high workload with multiple priorities
• Excellent planning and organizational skills

• Be aged between 19 and 30 years old on the start date of the job;
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN); and
• Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.

International students and other temporary residents of Canada are not eligible.
