Job Description / Duties

The Shelter Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Shelter Program through effective planning, coordinating, scheduling, supervising, and directing Peer Support employees. She will ensure services meet the contract requirements as well as the philosophy, mission and mandate of DEWC. Under the direction of the Shelter Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for a range of human resources matters including acting in the absence of the Manager handling emergent and routine issues. The Shelter Supervisor will work in collaboration with other DEWC staff to promote principles of peer support and integrated services to women. She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework.

Qualifications / Required Skills

 You have a minimum of 2 years related experience in a supervisory position, preferable within a unionized environment.
 You will promote and articulate the mission, mandate, philosophy, and values of DEWC.
 You are knowledgeable of the issues impacting women in the dtes, including gender-based violence, mental health, homelessness, and addictions with an understanding of traumainformed care responses.
 You have the ability to both work and support staff, within a busy, chaotic, crises driven environment where there are multiple demands and prioritize.
 You have efficient organizational and administrative skills including record keeping, scheduling, and problem-solving abilities
 You have or will obtain a First Aid Certification and NVCI.

POSITION DETAILS:

 Temporary, full-time, 9 day fortnight schedule
 Excluded position: hourly rate $29 - $33 depending on experience
