HSABC Webinar: Managing "Burnout & Overwhelm: Frontline Coping Skills"

This workshop explores the impact of working in a helping profession. Participants will learn about the symptoms and definitions of burnout, compassion fatigue, empathy fatigue and vicarious trauma and review specific tools for dealing with symptoms in order to build resiliency. This session also examines ways to manage the negative impact that come with working in the social service field in order to take care of yourself and to thrive.

Instructor: Amanda Thiessen

Amanda Thiessen is a social worker, educator, and coach who works with Human Service Organizations to help employees and cultures thrive. Amanda believes creating just social change is intimately linked to collaborative, effective and empowered organizational systems, people and cultures. Amanda has worked in the charity sector for over 20 years. She is a certified organizational coach, holds a Master of Arts degree in Theology, and is a registered social worker in the province of British Columbia, Canada. Currently she is completing a Master of Social Worker in Leadership in Human Services at the University of Calgary.
