HSABC Webinar: Safe Supply 101

November 30, 2020, 10:00 - 11:30 AM

Instructor: Cory Ranger

The upcoming two-part series on safe supply, or risk mitigation guidance (RMG) prescribing will discuss the theory and evolution of pharmaceutical alternatives to the contaminated drug supply, barriers to access, and practical applications for frontline workers. Corey Ranger, registered nurse, will guide learners to understand the broader concepts of safe supply and future direction of this vital harm reduction initiative. In the first session, learners will:

  1. Understand the current context of the overdose crisis and be able to communicate the collateral impacts of the global pandemic and the poisoned drug supply.
  2. Understand evolving drug tolerances and the impact of an increasingly high concentration of street fentanyl.
  3. Understand the theory and history of safe supply under the current context of the global pandemic.
  4. Identify barriers and issues related to current safe supply prescribing, including opportunities for improvement and expansion of the services.
