Extreme Weather Alerts

Each municipality participating in the EWR program has a Designated Community Representative who supports community-based planning, monitors weather conditions, and activates, extends, and cancels Alerts in accordance with legislated protocols outlined in the Assistance to Shelter Act.

Metro Vancouver

As the Regional EWR Coordinator for Metro Vancouver, HSABC supports  participating communities to develop EWR community plans and convenes a regional planning table to support the longer-term sustainability of the program. Throughout the season, HSABC also issues daily notifications listing all open EWR shelters across Metro Vancouver.
