HSABC and MOSAIC Webinar: Settlement of Refugee Claimants in Shelters

This webinar, presented in partnership with MOSAIC, is designed to help frontline staff navigate access to services for refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers. This webinar aims to provide local and global contexts for the increased number of newcomers in shelters, discuss how to create an inclusive and multicultural environment and help those in need access settlement services.

Marzieh Nezakat– MOSAIC- Manager of Settlement Services

Marzieh Nezakat is the manager of the BC Settlement and Integration Services (BCSIS) Program at MOSAIC which serves thousands of newcomers including refugee claimants, Asylum Seekers, and individuals with temporary status in BC annually. She oversees the BC CHARMS Project, which is a one-of-a-kind, province-wide housing referral system for refugee claimants and was the Co-Chair of the Multi-Agency Partnership (MAP BC) Housing Working Group for three years. She has worked for over ten years as a passionate advocate in the field of refugee settlement, protection, and integration in her home country, Iran, and in Canada. Marzieh is passionate about supporting and empowering vulnerable populations through advocacy, research, and awareness-raising.


Sara Rahnama- MOSAIC- Program Coordinator

As a passionate community builder, Sara began her journey as a settlement worker at MOSAIC. In supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds with complex needs, she built a solid understanding of the field and eventually transitioned to the role of program coordinator. Currently, Sara supports the team in delivering services to communities and aiding newcomers in their settlement and integration journey
