BC Homeless Count

Call for Volunteers

Following the 2018 Report on Homeless Counts in BC, Homeless Counts are taking place in a concerted effort in communities across the province in 2020. Although counts do not give us a full picture of the extent of homelessness, they do provide important information on the estimated number, key demographics and service provision needs of those experiencing homelessness, both in your community and across the province.

Each count will be conducted over a 24-hour period between March 1st and April 30th, inside shelters during the evening, and on the streets during the day. Both, the support of local service providers, community organizations and volunteers is needed to ensure the successful delivery of the count in your community.

We are seeking your help to conduct the count in your community. This involves attending a training session and conducting a brief anonymous survey with people who are experiencing homelessness during the count.

We are looking for people who:

  • Are compassionate, accepting, and comfortable with one-on-one conversations
  • Have a friendly, non-judgmental attitude and a good sense of humour
  • Are 19 years of age or older and younger than 70 years of age (to meet insurance requirements).
