Job Description / Duties

Do you have a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, and have a desire to work with the Downtown Eastside community? Are you adaptable, collaborative, and service oriented? Do you want to play a role in developing and maintaining a healthy culture, providing spiritual leadership, and support for our shelter guests and staff? We are looking for a Shift Supervisor – Shelter Worker, who is responsible for assisting the Shelter & Case Management Supervisor in the operation of the Men’s Emergency Shelter. This includes supervision of guests, staffing, volunteer relations, training, record keeping, and problem solving for the fostering of effective team relationships, as well as the intake of and care for men entering the shelter by ensuring they have a safe and clean place to find direction, assistance, and sleep. This person will have 3-4 years of related work experience with a knowledge of issues related to poverty, homelessness, addiction, and mental health. They will also have experience working frontlines in a shelter position.
You will frequently deal with clients in crisis situations, brought about by diverse problems. There will be other staff nearby to assist as required.
This is a permanent part-time position, working overnight 8:30pm to 7am. In this position you will work from Wednesday to Friday weekly with a Saturday shift every other week. For a copy of the full job description, please visit our website.
