Reporting to the Program Manager, our selected candidate will ensure a safe and secure environment for residents by managing the premises, handling conflicts, and supervising chores. You will conduct client intakes, provide orientation, and establish clear boundaries to foster a positive atmosphere. Your responsibilities include maintaining safety, providing basic necessities, supporting residents with their barriers, and documenting interactions. Qualifications / Required Skills
The Extreme Weather Response Program is operated in conjunction with HSABC, BC Housing, and Options and runs from October through April. Options operates 3 low barrier extreme weather shelters in varying locations throughout Surrey and Delta that provide basic services and shelter to street-entrenched populations.
The ideal candidate for this position should have a diploma in social services or related field, or at least one year of experience working with vulnerable populations, with education and experience considered together. A valid First Aid Certificate, Class 5 Driver’s license, and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
The successful candidate will be working the following schedule:
•Shift Hours: 9:30 PM - 7:30 AM
•Work Pattern: Rotational shift schedule
•Week 1: 4 days on, 3 days off
•Week 2: 3 days on, 4 days off
The role involves assignments to various shelter locations as needed.
Key skills include adaptability to a dynamic environment, high motivation, sensitivity, strong time management, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and mediation abilities. Effective team collaboration, communication skills, and the ability to develop program materials are essential. Candidates must work independently, handle sensitive issues confidentially, respect cultural diversity, and demonstrate a problem-solving approach.
This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.

Salary: JJEP Wage Grid Level 10 ($25.95-29.76)
