The Opportunity
Do you enjoy building relationships? Do you desire to show the love of Jesus, intentionally connecting with our DTES community members by listening, praying and providing hope? Are you adaptable, client-centered, collaborative, and service-oriented? Then we may have an opportunity for you. We are looking for an Outreach Worker on our Hastings Chaplaincy and Outreach team. The Outreach Worker position involves ministering to the men and women living in the neighbourhood of the Hastings facility. The job may include making referrals for housing, clothing, shelter, recovery and a wide variety of other duties as needed by the individuals we serve. The work will be based out of the Hastings facility; from time to time the Outreach Worker will assist Outreach at other locations.
You will frequently deal with clients in crisis situations, brought about by diverse problems. There will be other staff nearby to assist as required.
The start wage for this position is $21.45 per hour.
There is one auxiliary (3 month), full-time position available from mid-May till the end of August. The position will have a fixed Tuesday-Saturday schedule, with 7.5-8 hour shifts that fall between 10 am and 9:00 pm. For a copy of the full job description, please visit our website.
