Maintenance Technician II – Full Time

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician II reports to the Property Manager and works in accordance with the mission of Lookout Housing and Health Society including following Lookout’s Code of Ethics. Key duties and responsibilities include performing a variety of tasks, which are necessary for the maintenance of various Lookout building facilities. The Maintenance Technician II will exhibit leadership and sound professional judgement and initiative while working within the framework of the objectives of the service and the organization as a whole.
Salary will be negotiated depending on experience and qualifications and includes a benefits and pension plan. The schedule for this position is an average Monday through Friday 40-hour work week with an occasional requirement to work additional hours in order to meet deadlines. Use of own vehicle is required for travel between sites.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications

• Minimum grade 12 education plus three (3) years of recent related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Class 5 Drivers’ License and use of reliable personal vehicle
• Criminal Record Clearance – Vulnerable Sector will be required
• Must have two doses of COVID-19 Vaccine
• A minimum of two (2) years of sobriety if you have had concerns related to alcohol and/or drug use

Skills and Abilities

• Experience with carpentry, plumbing, electrical, flooring installation and repair, painting and drywall repairs
• Competent with the use of hand and power tools, and related equipment
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Demonstrated physical/mental ability to perform the duties of the job
• Demonstrated computer skills including with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Financial responsibility for the procurement of equipment/products, including negotiating and cash handling
• Ability to work with people with mental illness including hoarding, who may struggle with a risk of homelessness and/or addictions
• Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently and effectively
