Lookout Housing and Health Society is seeking Casual Shelter Resource Workers for our sites in Vancouver, BC!

POSITION: SHELTER RESOURCE WORKER - Casual - Vancouver, BC

HOURS AND DAYS OF WORK:

* 7 days a week, day, afternoon/evening and overnight shifts, weekdays, weekends and holidays

* Shifts are 7.25 - 7.50 hours in length

JOB SUMMARY:

The Shelter Resource Worker provides intake, orientation and support for guests entering the shelter. The SRW will connect with public service agencies relevant to the needs of the shelter guest. Most of our employees start on a casual basis, gaining skills and experience while working towards regular full-time and part-time positions. This position works within a 24hr, 7 day a week emergency shelter for adults experiencing homelessness who struggle with a variety of issues such as homelessness, additions and mental health.

Qualifications / Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCE:

* Related Community Certificate/Diploma preferred plus one (1) year recent related experience

* OFA 1 First Aid Certificate required

* Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training an asset

* Harm Reduction/ Naloxone Training an asset

* A minimum of two (2) years sobriety, if drug and alcohol an issue

* Must have current Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate and negative TB Test

* Must have two doses of COVID 19 Vaccine

* Naloxone Training is an asset

* Crisis Intervention Skills Training is an asset

* Ability to work independently or in a team setting

* Strong ability to manage stress and organize workload

* Excellent communication, writing, documentation, and organizational skills

* Ability to understand and maintain clientele/worker boundaries

* Ability to work with disadvantaged and challenging adults in a diverse environment

* Strong physical and mental ability to perform work tasks and operate job related equipment

* A minimum of two (2) years of sobriety if you have had concerns related to alcohol and/or drug use

* Criminal Record Clearance – Vulnerable Sector
