Job Description / Duties

Position Summary:

MDABC is seeking an empathetic and capable transcranial magnetic stimulation technician to create a supportive rTMS treatment experience for our patients. rTMS is a non-invasive form of brain stimulation used to treat symptoms of depression. Treatments are offered under the supervision of a Psychiatrist and the technician reports to the Program Manager. The technician will set up the rTMS machine for each treatment and ensure patient’s comfort throughout visit at the clinic. Previous rTMS experience is not required and training will be provided for the successful candidate. This position is non-unionized and casuals will be scheduled for coverage as required between Monday – Friday 8:30 – 4:30.

Key Responsibilities:

The technician will administer rTMS treatments according to prescribed protocols, and accurate positioning of rTMS equipment. Patient comfort, safety and communication during treatments is a top priority. The technician will review, collect and organize associated statistics and will handle overall machine care and maintenance. In addition, motor threshold treatments, maintaining templates, logs and other related data are required. The technician will collaborate with the rTMS Psychiatrist on protocols and reports and will assist in training newer technicians to the program. The technician will ensure all clients receive the appropriate service, and will uphold the Society goals, philosophy and protocols at all times.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a health related field preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with a specialization in Psychology, Counselling or mental health background.
• Occupational First Aid (OFA Level 1) Certificate is required.
• A Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Adult sector (if successful candidate)
• Previous experience as a medical technician operating patient technology (such as PACS and GE ultrasound equipment) is an asset, but not required.
• Full vaccination is required (Covid) and proof of vaccination is required

Skills and Abilities:

• Commitment to client care and ability to maintain a calming environment is essential
• Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skill, and the ability to multitask are essential.
• Strong ability to document patient encounters accurately and thoroughly.
• Ability to maintain excellent judgment, tact and discretion.
• Demonstrated knowledge/familiarity/experience with patient-facing medical and/or mental health support
