SUMMARY:HSABC Webinar: Low Impact Debriefing For Frontline Workers
DESCRIPTION:In this session, we discuss what a debrief is and isn't, the
difference between a low-impact and high-impact debrief, and you'll leav
e with practical tips to debrief in ways that will increase team and ind
ividual capacity.\n\nKey Takeaways:\n• Clarify and define the term deb
rief.\n• Understand what goes into a low impact debrief and a high imp
act debrief.\n• Ideas and practical strategies around how to engage in
low impact debriefing\n• Wider diversity of options to ask for in wor
kplace interpersonal interactions\n\n \n\nKennedy Lewis is a former sup
port worker turned trauma therapist. Kennedy cultivated her craft and pr
actice in Victoria, B.C after graduating from U. Vic. After graduating,
Kennedy started a private practice and developed Extraordinary Workers t
o help support workers on the front lines who are often overlooked in th
eir roles. Extraordinary Workers has been in operation for over a year e
ngaging the support worker community in group and individual counselling
, as well as workshops through specific agencies. Kennedy recently moved
to Vancouver, B.C. and has joined the East Vancouver Counselling Collec
tive and continues to run extraordinary workers, which has grown to supp
orting support workers from all across B.C.\n\nKennedy approaches the to
pic of resiliency by addressing how the entire workplace functions to mi
tigate the effects of trauma exposures on staff. Believing that when wor
kers are properly supported to cope with their job demands, they can sta
y longer in their roles and build the relationships with clients that ar
e often so necessary to healing and stabilization. Kennedy's message to
support workers is simple: see the valuable work you do; see that you ca
rry communities on your shoulders; you deserve support, solidarity and a
ccess to information that can aid you in your roles.
