DESCRIPTION:This workshop explores the impact of working in a helping pro
 fession. Participants will learn about the symptoms and definitions of b
 urnout, compassion fatigue, empathy fatigue and vicarious trauma and rev
 iew specific tools for dealing with symptoms in order to build resilienc
 y. This session also examines ways to manage the negative impact that co
 me with working in the social service field in order to take care of you
 rself and to thrive.\n\nInstructor: Amanda Thiessen\n\nAmanda specialize
 s in helping individuals and organizations manage workplace stresses and
  make positive changes.\n\nAs a ‘Stress Strategist,’ Amanda works wi
 th individuals through the process of inquiry to support people in gaini
 ng clarity and finding solutions to challenges. She offers a range of wo
 rkshops to organizations to facilitate the creation of safe, supportive,
  and positive work environments.\n\nHaving worked for over 15 years in t
 he non-profit world, she has firsthand knowledge of the kinds of experie
 nces that exemplify working in front-line capacities. Her experience inc
 ludes working in the areas of addiction, victim services, mental health 
 and developmental disabilities.\n\nAlthough Amanda has a BA in Psycholog
 y, a Bachelors of Social Work and a MA in Theology, her greatest accompl
 ishments remain being a loving partner, a devoted mother, and a good fri
