SUMMARY:Webinar: Beyond Beds and Rules: Shelter Frameworks
DESCRIPTION:-- Webinar Description: --\n\nRunning a shelter setting well
requires clear structure, consistent practice, and strong frontline deci
sion-making. This course focuses on the practical application of shelter
frameworks that support safe, predictable, and well-functioning shelter
operations across all shifts.\n\nDrawing from a shelter structure devel
oped and implemented by an instructor with lived and living experience,
participants will learn how to apply day-to-day operational practices, i
ncluding intakes and exits, shift routines, boundary setting, responding
to incidents, documentation, and communication between staff. The cours
e emphasizes how consistency and clarity reduce conflict, support staff
confidence, and create environments where residents know what to expect.
\n\nParticipants will examine how policies, rules, and routines show up
in real time on the floor, and how frontline workers can apply discretio
n without undermining structure or fairness. Attention is given to profe
ssional judgment, role clarity, and decision-making under pressure, as w
ell as how documentation and internal communication impact both resident
s and staff teams.\n\nThis course is designed for frontline workers and
supervisors who want practical tools for running a shelter effectivelyâ€
”balancing safety, accountability, and dignity while navigating the real
ities of limited resources and complex human needs.\n\n-- Instructor: TB
