This training helps learners respond supportively and effectively to disclosures of sexualized violence.

Sexual violence often refers to sexual abuse, assault, and harassment among other things, it is highly prevalent and it affects all individuals, either directly or indirectly.

The webinar will focus on exploring our own own attitudes, behaviours & beliefs, responding supportively & effectively to disclosures of sexual violence, and identifying available supports and resources.

Instructors: Shari McKenzie-Ramsay & Leanne Tombe

Instructor Bios: 

Shari McKenzie-Ramsay, RN
Shari McKenzie-Ramsay is a Registered Nurse with specialties in Emergency Nursing and Forensic Nursing, providing care to people who have experienced sexual assault and interpersonal violence. She currently works in the Comox Valley Emergency Department as a bedside nurse, Forensic Nurse Examiner, and Clinical Practice Educator with JIBC. With a background in psychology and addictions medicine, Shari is deeply committed to trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and reducing stigma in healthcare and community settings.


Leanne Tombe, MSW
Leanne Tombe is a Social Worker with nearly two decades of experience supporting people impacted by sexual exploitation and sexualized violence. She has held leadership roles with Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse, including managing the Calgary Sexual Assault Team and education programs supporting police, courts, and communities. Leanne is recognized for developing innovative prevention, education, and capacity-building initiatives that strengthen responses to sexual and gender-based violence.
