Webinar: Personal Safety in Practice: Navigating Risk, Racism, and Violence in Frontline Work
October 21, 2026, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Webinar Description:
Frontline and outreach workers regularly navigate complex and unpredictable environments where personal safety is shaped not only by immediate physical risks, but also by systemic factors such as racism, misogyny, and other forms of structural violence. This workshop offers a practical, grounded approach to understanding and responding to these realities in day-to-day work. Participants will build skills in recognizing early warning signs, assessing risk in dynamic situations, and implementing preventative safety strategies that are both effective and contextually responsive. The session also creates space to examine how identity and power impact safety, and how workers can make informed decisions that prioritize both personal well-being and ethical, client-centred care. Through real-world scenarios and applied strategies, this training equips participants with tools to enhance situational awareness, set boundaries, de-escalate potential conflict, and navigate challenging interactions with greater confidence.
