DESCRIPTION:-- Webinar Description:  --\n\nIn this Anti-Oppressive De-Es
 calation training, we explore ways to center clients and help them in wa
 ys that don’t perpetuate or exasperate power inequities. \n\nWe will 
 look at ways to self-regulate, hold space for clients that may be displa
 ying aggressive behaviours, and learn ways to de-escalate intense situat
 ions.\n\nApproaching clients in this manner helps nurture and foster rel
 ationships where people feel safe, happy, and housed. This approach prov
 ides stability and safety needed for clients to work on the areas of the
 ir lives they identify as needing work.\n\nSome of the main things we’
 ll cover include:\n\n* Centering clients\n\n* Low-intensity situations\n
 \n* High-intensity situations\n\n* Prevention of escalation\n\n* Relatio
 nship building\n\n* Self-awareness\n\n-- Instructor: Randene Wejr  --\n
 \nInstructor Bio: Randene has been the Executive Director of Turning Poi
 nts since 2017. Under her leadership, the organization has grown tremend
 ously in staff, programs offered, geographical service area and clients 
 served.\n\nRandene is deeply committed to collaboration and community bu
 ilding and has created strong connections in new communities. As such, s
 he sits on numerous community committees and working groups spanning sev
 eral communities, ministries, and multiple layers of government.\n\nFor 
 the past twenty-two years, Randene has worked in roles supporting and ch
 ampioning marginalized individuals within Federal and Provincial governm
 ents and non-profit organizations. She’s worked as an executive direct
 or for several organizations in Canada and internationally (India). She 
 worked in Northern BC for fifteen years, and during that time, she had t
 he opportunity to work and develop relationships with numerous diverse c
 ommunities.\n\nRandene has a Master’s in Social Work and a Master’s 
 in Business Administration. Both degrees focused on non-profit leadershi
 p; additionally, She’s been accepted into the prestigious Wharton Scho
 ol of Business executive leadership program. \n\nRandene describes her 
 experience growing up in Enderby as a member of the LGTBQ2S+ community a
 nd tragically losing a loved one to suicide as experiences that have cha
 nged her forever. She has a profound personal understanding of trauma, m
 ental unwellness, and marginalization as a result.\n\n
