DESCRIPTION:In this Anti-Oppressive De-Escalation Skills training, we exp
 lore ways to center clients and help them in ways that don’t perpetuat
 e or exasperate power inequities. \n\nWe will look at ways to self-regu
 late, hold space for clients that may be displaying aggressive behaviour
 s, and learn ways to de-escalate intense situations.\n\nApproaching clie
 nts in this manner helps nurture and foster relationships where people f
 eel safe, happy, and housed. This approach provides stability and safety
  needed for clients to work on the areas of their lives they identify as
  needing work.\n\nSome of the main things we’ll cover include:\n\n* Ce
 ntering clients\n\n* Low-intensity situations\n\n* High-intensity situat
 ions\n\n* Prevention of escalation\n\n* Relationship building\n\n* Self-

 ructor: Randene Wejr \n\nRandene has been the Executive Director of Tur
 ning Points since 2017. Under her leadership, the organization has grown
  tremendously in staff, programs offered, geographical service area and 
 clients served.\n\nRandene is deeply committed to collaboration and comm
 unity building and has created strong connections in new communities. As
  such, she sits on numerous community committees and working groups span
 ning several communities, ministries, and multiple layers of government.
 \n\nFor the past twenty-two years, Randene has worked in roles supportin
 g and championing marginalized individuals within Federal and Provincial
  governments and non-profit organizations. She’s worked as an executiv
 e director for several organizations in Canada and internationally (Indi
 a). She worked in Northern BC for fifteen years, and during that time, s
 he had the opportunity to work and develop relationships with numerous d
 iverse communities.\n\nRandene has a Master’s in Social Work and a Mas
 ter’s in Business Administration. Both degrees focused on non-profit l
 eadership; additionally, She’s been accepted into the prestigious Whar
 ton School of Business executive leadership program. \n\nRandene descri
 bes her experience growing up in Enderby as a member of the LGTBQ2S+ com
 munity and tragically losing a loved one to suicide as experiences that 
 have changed her forever. She has a profound personal understanding of t
 rauma, mental unwellness, and marginalization as a result.\n\n
