DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Homelessness Services Association of BC’s v
 irtual Annual General Meeting, with keynote speaker John Harvey reflecti
 ng on his career in homelessness services and thoughts about the impact 
 on the Right to Housing on our sector. This event is open to all HSABC F
 ull and Associate Members. However, in accordance with HSABC’s By-Laws
 , only Full Members in good standing are “entitled to one (1) vote on 
 matters for determination by the Members” at the AGM. The AGM package,
  along with detailed voting instructions, will be provided to registered
  attendees on or after November 3rd, 2022.\n\nJohn Harvey is a 35-year v
 eteran of the not-for-profit sector who has dedicated his career to cari
 ng for at-risk youth and vulnerable families.\n\nRecently retired, John 
 was the Chief Program Officer for Covenant House for 18.5 years. During 
 his time with CHV, he has served on various advisory committees and Boar
 ds. John was past-Chair of both ShelterNet BC and the Greater Vancouver 
 Shelter Strategy. He also served as a member of the Reaching Home Metro-
 Vancouver Community Advisory Board. John was appointed to the National H
 ousing Council in 2021 and is the Chair of the sub-committee exploring T
 he Right to Adequate Housing in Canada.\n\nJohn is a graduate of Lakehea
 d University (BA) and Athabasca University (MBA). He brings a unique liv
 ed experience that has shaped his worldview. As a youth, he spent severa
 l years living in West Africa. During his time in Africa, he first under
 stood the importance of service to others and the common values that bin
 d all of humankind. John later returned to West Africa to volunteer at a
  desert hospital, where he met his wife. John and his family live in the
  Metro Vancouver area. He is a member of the Dokis First Nation in Ontar
