Domestic Violence and Safety Planning: What You Need to Know
Description: Violence against women and their children by intimate partners is the leading cause of women’s homelessness[i]. Chances are, you’ve already work with women who have experienced abuse or will encounter them in the future. Safety planning is one of the essential tools that can increase the safety of the survivor and those around them. This webinar will provide an overview on domestic violence and its impacts. We will offer tips on how to recognize domestic violence and how to support someone who is experiencing it. We will also discuss how to safety plan with a woman who is leaving an abusive partner.
Pakka Liu is passionate about ending violence against women and all forms of oppression. Having worked frontline in a transition house, a rape crisis centre and women’s centre, the diversity of her experience provides her with an understanding of the challenges that women face and their resistance. Pakka is a strong believer in creating social changes through information, education and collaboration.
